Oct. 22, 2020 鈥 Carryl Baldwin, Wichita State鈥檚 Carl and Rozina Cassat Distinguished Professor of Aging, received the 2020 Woman of the Year Award, presented by the Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) Society, Human Factors and Ergonomics Women鈥檚 Organization for Mentorship and Networking.

Oct. 15, 2020 鈥 Teams from the awarded Convergence Sciences Initiative proposals will give 10-minute presentations featuring their projects at 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23.

Dr. Breanna Boppre

Sept. 8, 2020 鈥斅燘reanna Boppre, assistant professor of criminal justice, will discuss the implications of COVID-19 for correctional agencies nationwide and in Kansas. Boppre's talk is part of the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Perspectives on the pandemic series.

September 4, 2020 - 九色堂鈥檚 Instructional Design and Access team, part of the Media Resource Center, worked with faculty over the summer to continue to improve hybrid learning. IDA took its one-day Academic Resources Conference and turned it into a week of training, via Zoom, in June and again in August before classes started. Another week is scheduled in January to prepare spring classes.

Dr. Dinorah Azpuru

Aug. 19. 2020 鈥 The first talk in Wichita State鈥檚 Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 鈥淧erspectives on the Pandemics: Part II鈥 series will feature Dinorah Azpuru. A professor of political science, Azpuru researches issues related to democracy. Her talk, 鈥淒emocracy in the world in times of COVID-19,鈥 will explore how the pandemic has affected democratic societies globally.

July 23, 2020 鈥 The Advanced Robotics Manufacturing (ARM) Institute, which receives funding from the U.S. Department of Defense, recently awarded Wichita State $250,000 to assist in creating a workforce development database focused on compiling a map of educational programs and resources that provide skills required for today鈥檚 advanced robotics and manufacturing careers.

June 22, 2020 鈥 Dr. Breanna Boppre, assistant professor of criminal justice, grew up while both her parents were incarcerated. She brings that experience into her classroom and focuses her research on families of those who are incarcerated.

Richard Nold volunteered for hurricane relief in North Carolina
